Vision and Mission

The Chugach School District recognizes and represents the innovative, creative, and diligent spirit that Alaska is known for. Driven by our community’s desires for change and greater outcomes, we continue to be a leader in performance-based education. Using not only our school buildings but our communities as our classrooms, our students demonstrate proficiency towards educational standards in many ways and progress toward graduation and successful careers at their own pace. We have removed the organizational structures that are driven by time and age and replaced them with learning as the constant for which we strive. We have proven the validity and value of this model over the course of the last 20+ years.

In addition to our three schools spread out across Prince William Sound, we continue to meet the needs of many home school families with support offices in Anchorage, Valdez, and Fairbanks. Anchorage is also the home to our residential Voyage School where students spend 2-4 weeks studying intensive career paths that help them develop themselves, personally, academically, and socially. Current phases be offered include, culinary training, ETT certification, construction trades, outdoor leadership, and private pilot training.

Across our district, our place based focus provides a relevance to what our students learn no matter where they learn it.
